The Weekly Volcano, Swarner Communications' weekly arts and entertainment newspaper was named one of the top 25 influential contributors to Tacoma's progress during the 25th Anniversary celebration of City Club of Tacoma, Oct. 7 at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma.
Ron Swarner, creator of the Volcano received the award.
"In celebrating our 25th year, City Club of Tacoma recognizes the accomplishments of other organizations in our community that have made a significant impact during the last quarter of a century.  We believe it is fitting and appropriate to acknowledge these other 25 organizations as we celebrate our own success," stated the organizers in the program guide for Wednesday's event.
Other honorees included Bates Technical College, Centro Latino, Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, The Grand Cinema, KPLU, and Puyallup Tribe of Indians.
