Today, Swarner Communications launched NorthwestMilitary.com, the new online home for the Fort Lewis Ranger and NW Airlifter newspapers, as well as a portal for military families, veterans, and service members.
"We have long envisioned a portal where our local military personnel and their families can go to find answers to their questions, as well as connect with each other in our forums and groups," said Ron Swarner, co-owner of Swarner Communications. "This new site allows us to help service members relocate to our area, connect with clubs and events on the bases and in the community, as well as share insights with our staff and their fellow military neighbors."
Powered by Flint, a well know Web development company, NorthwestMilitary.com is easy to navigate. It is also a touch point for deployed units to see the news and developments back at home.
"We hope our readers will use the tools we provide to be part of a community," said Ken Swarner, editor of the Fort Lewis Ranger. "If nothing else, the Internet is a grat tool for finding answers – and our site is designed to help our readers live better in the South Puget Sound area."
Prior to the launch of NorthwestMilitary.com, Swarner Communications operated a military blog, www.fortlewisblog.com. That blog has since been absorbed into the new site. Swarner also maintains a robust Web site for its arts and entertainment newspaper, The Weekly Volcano, at WeeklyVolcano.com. Links to that information are also available through NorthwestMilitary.com.
